Echo Club

Echo Club took place at Theater Gessnerallee in Zürich and is an experimental learning format that collaboratively investigates performance practices. It aims to provide discursive and embodied encounters with the realm of performance for those who would like to have a deeper insight into what performance can be, feel like, and do. Participants join via an open call. Practically, this entails watching three performance pieces together at Gessnerallee. Each performance is followed by a group gathering  approximately 2 weeks later, in which we collectively investigate, reflect upon, and echo the piece we have just seen. Embodied practices are central to this inquiry, engaging in physical exercises, rehearsals, re-enactments, and collective reflections to process what we’ve witnessed together.

Those dying years. It was about language and about what happens when language is uttered. How some things are said with such confidence they almost seem true. How you can adopt a voice to sound at once fraudulent and faithful. Some people use words with such certainty it bears no refute. I’ve never had this relationship to words, always stuck between languages, never grasping one as a tool to be wielded.
