With Amnesia Archive we are confronted with an environment that vaguely mimics domesticity but is doubtful of its own structures. Amnesia, in this case, is less about forgetting, and more about choosing what not to remember. This performative installation is the first iteration of a prospective performance that departs from the studies of invasive species—in particular Japanese knotweed—as a source to unearth modes of existence beyond what has already been established. Knotweed is a rhizomatic plant that can grow through the cracks of asphalt, brick, and concrete foundations, thereby occasionally entering and destabilizing the sphere of heteronormative domesticity and imperialist property. Taking in its stride Munoz’ definition of queerness as a feeling “that this world is not enough, that indeed something is missing,” Amnesia Archive engages with that which is absent, obscured, or willfully erased. The constructed holes in the collective conscious; the memories and lives that manifest through the crevices, the interstices, and the spaces between existing historical & social infrastructures.

from the mud and the slime


Those dying years. It was about language and about what happens when language is uttered. How some things are said with such confidence they almost seem true. How you can adopt a voice to sound at once fraudulent and faithful. Some people use words with such certainty it bears no refute. I’ve never had this relationship to words, always stuck between languages, never grasping one as a tool to be wielded.
